Marys Journey

We want to connect the remarkable historical document *Letters Written During a Short Residence in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark* (Mary Wollstonecraft’s travelogue from 1795) with music from the Age of Enlightenment.

We will now interweave texts by Mary Wollstonecraft with other contemporary texts in her spirit and with music.

Cecilia Hansson’s ability to blend journalistic writing with her own poetic experiences fits well and coincides happily with her deep interest in Mary Wollstonecraft, both as a literary figure and for her pioneering feminist work.

We’ve chosen music by the Enlightenment composer W. A. Mozart, as well as Swedish counterparts such as J. M. Kraus and J. H. Roman. This associative process also leads to overlaps and parallel musical excursions into songs from other contemporary genres.
